Welcome, pilot. You’ve been chosen for the fleet — and there’s a bright future ahead if you take the opportunity. This guide covers the basics of Battlestar Galactica Online on BSGO Nova and gets you flying fast.

Choosing a faction

When you first start, you’ll choose between the Colonial and Cylon factions. The choice isn’t permanent — you can change it later (free changes are at staff discretion for balance, or 500k Cubits any time).

Each faction has its own ships, but they’re largely mirror images of each other with slight differences. Pick the side whose ships and aesthetics you prefer — or whichever side your friends fly with.

The basics

Once you’ve chosen a faction, you’ll start in your home sector. Follow the tutorial first — it teaches movement and combat. After that, start running missions: they’re the fastest way to earn resources and experience.

Movement

  • Your ship follows your mouse cursor.
  • You can also steer with the WASD keys.
  • Press Space to boost. Boosting consumes energy.

Combat

To attack, first target an enemy — click it, or press Tab to cycle targets. Once you have a target, your weapons fire automatically when the enemy is in range.

Abilities are special attacks on a cooldown. Trigger them with the number keys (1–0) or by clicking them in your ability bar.

Ships and equipment

As you progress you’ll unlock new ships and equipment. Buy new hulls from the shop — each has its own strengths and weaknesses — and outfit them with weapons and modules to match your playstyle. See the full Fleet roster for every ship.

Resources

  • Tylium — the main currency, used to buy ships and equipment.
  • Titanium and other resources — used for upgrades.

Earn resources by completing missions, mining asteroids, and defeating enemies.

Tips

  • Keep your ship upgraded.
  • Join a wing to play with others — BSGO Nova rewards squad play; solo is harder.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help in chat.
  • Have fun!
